All-Church Faith Forum on Immigration

February 4, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

“In the Company of Dreamers”: Rev. Kent Harrop will share what he learned at a recent national conference on immigration in Sacramento, tell inspiring stories of immigrants he met, guide us in a reflection on how our faith informs us, and provide practical steps for getting involved. Joining Kent will be Dr. Robert McAndrews, a local immigration attorney and faculty member of Salem State. Rob will update us on arrests and deportations by ICE in Greater Boston and the North Shore.
Planning is in place to more than double the rate of deportations in our country to 539,000 on a yearly basis. 800,000 DACA recipients (brought to US by their parents as children without documents and given temporary protected status) will be at risk of deportation after March 5th unless Congress acts. This, along with the militarization of the border, is putting more and more people at risk and creating a rising level of hostility towards immigrants. Now more than ever we must listen, learn, and act.
