Lenten Book Study Class: Gospel of Peter

March 23, 2023 @ 7:15 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 7:15 pm on Thursday, repeating until April 6, 2023

This class will be taught by Julie and participants will have the opportunity to explore the non-canonical Gospel of Peter together in this class. The Gospel of Peter is a Gospel that is was written contemporaneously with the four canonical Gospels with which we are familiar and was used by early Christian communities following Jesus’ time. Perhaps its most intriguing feature is that, unlike the four canonical Gospels we use today, it describes not only the moments before and immediately following the Resurrection but, also, the moment of the Resurrection itself. Participants in this class will have the opportunity to read this unique piece together and to consider it in and through the lens of our faith, as well as in conversation with the canonical Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
